From the first time I met Phil, I realised why he and my Dad have the same name - same sense of humour and sarcasm!! From day one I was treated as one of the family right through until his last breath - but that was Phil all over; such a caring, selfless, funny guy. If he wasn’t winding Sally up, he was winding Dan up, which I found hilarious (sorry guys).
I remember one NYE I was working and the Barneys and my folks were part of the NYE Dinner I was looking after. A guy had an issue with his drink and was going a bit ott, but as we were over the other side of the room it looked a lot worse than it was. My folks knew nothing until they saw Phil calmly stand up and take off his jacket, all the time watching me. It did turn out to be nothing that a free bottle of wine couldn’t fix but i felt safe all night after that haha
Even through Phil’s illness we’ve kept in touch through text and still managed to have a giggle - he was the same guy til the end. I gave him the title of my “Sensei Ninja” because I don’t think I’ve ever known anyone fight as hard/the way he did!
I feel honoured to be able to say I knew Phil, and always will. As Sally said he’s left a huge hole, and although he’s now free from pain - this won’t ever stop us from missing him.. the brightest star in the sky eh Phil? UWMA Xxxx
